Qualities of a good coordinator; the right heart, the right character, and the right expectations. In order for a coordinator to lead effectively they must recognize there are three types of people in their small groups; relational types, knowledge types, and activist types. Each of these members should be appreciated and given a role to play.
Practical tips for managing a small group; make sure everyone gets a chance to talk, keep the group on track but don’t dictate and intercede if a disagreement arises, make it a great place for people to feel valued, validate every person for what they say – authentically, create relevant topics and avoid “theory”, jointly come up with activities for outreach and get something to eat together.
